TV Smith’s live performances remain celebrated for his intensity\, intelligence and emotional honesty\, capturing the atmosphere of punk at its most vital. \nHeadlining the night is John McKay’s Reactor\, led by the pioneering guitarist whose innovative playing with Siouxsie and the Banshees helped redefine the possibilities of post-punk guitar music. Atmospheric and hugely influential\, McKay’s sound became a blueprint for countless bands that followed. \nThe evening will be hosted by Marco Pirroni\, a member of the original Banshees line-up and a central figure in the early punk and post-punk scene. DESCRIPTION:Launch event for the long overdue autobiography from the renowned and much-loved Adam and the Ants songwriter and guitarist. \nIn the mid 1970’s\, Marco Pirroni was a shy Kings Road punk kid. He played guitar with a nascent Siouxsie and the Banshees at their debut 100 Club gig in 1976. Future Sex Pistol Sid Vicious could often be found round at Marco’s parents with a bag of laundry and a cup of tea. But as the early promise of punk rock’s cultural liberation quickly soured\, Marco’s dreams of proper pop stardom only grew. \nIn a few short years\, alongside an ambitious fellow punk survivor called Adam who was also looking to break out of the musical ghetto and onto Top of the Pops\, Marco became the musical architect of the global Antmusic phenomenon. By the time he was 21\, Marco was the co-writer of the two classic number one singles – ‘Prince Charming’ and the Ivor Novello-winning ‘Stand and Deliver’ – alongside the million selling\, idiosyncratic new pop masterpiece ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier’ and its follow up album ‘Prince Charming’. \nYour Money or Your Life is Marco’s long-overdue and much-anticipated account of his time amidst the maelstrom of Antmania. It chronicles the breakneck period in Pirroni’s life which ends in March 1982\, when Adam and the Ants split up amongst heartbreak and acrimony. DESCRIPTION:SOLD OUT: MARCO PIRRONI – Rebellion Literary Festival 2026 \nMarco initially came to prominence as a part of the nascent punk scene in London. Making his musical debut at the 100 Club Punk festival as guitarist for the live debut of Siouxsie and the Banshees\, he then joined the Models (originally called the Beastly Cads) and released the ’77 classic ‘Freeze/Man of the Year’ 7”. Following stints with Rema Rema and Weekend Swingers\, Marco teamed up with Adam & the Ants and as co-songwriter\, enjoyed significant success and worldwide acclaim\, with numerous chart-topping hits and two albums that reached number 1\, ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier and ‘Prince Charming’. The band features original Monochrome Set members Bid (guitar/vocals) and Andy Warren (bass) with Athen Ayren on keyboards and Stephen Gilchrist on drums. \nThe Monochrome Set formed in 1978\, and were heavily influential in the post-punk scene that evolved after the initial scorched earth of punk. \nThe band’s early releases were on the legendary Rough Trade label before signing with Virgin offshoot Din Disc. They also released several albums on the Cherry Red label\, making a notable appearance on that labels’ well known “Pillows and Prayers” compilation. \nThough The Monochrome Set split in 1985 the next decade saw several reunions for both live gigs and further studio recordings. After a hiatus of over a decade the band reformed full time in 2010 and have since toured all over the UK\, Europe\, Japan and the USA\, whilst also releasing eight\, new\, critically acclaimed\, studio albums. \nNow in their 48th year\, they are beginning a new series of gigs promoting their new album and playing songs from throughout that time.

Its provocative\, frenzied roots were in the New York underground\, before it emerged triumphant\, kicking and screaming at the top of the British pop charts\, inspiring and appalling people in equal measure. \nJust over fifty years ago\, on November 6\, 1975\, the Sex Pistols gave their first\, appropriately chaotic\, performance at Saint Martin’s College of Art and within a few months the spirit and attitude of Punk had been let loose. \nAt this special event Chris Sullivan and Stephen Colegrave talk to writer and broadcaster Miranda Sawyer about their new book Punk: the Last Word\, a bold\, unflinching chronicle of Punk not just as a mere music genre or fashion statement\, but as a free-thinking\, egalitarian\, DIY attitude that continues to challenge norms and empower individuals to live authentically. They are joined by special guests Paul Cook (The Sex Pistols)\, Gina Birch (The Raincoats) and Marco Pirroni (Siouxsie and the Banshees\, Adam and the Ants). \nPlease note this event has been rescheduled from the previous date of Friday 12 December.

DESCRIPTION:Here’s a January 2026 winter warmer in Stoke Newington!\nIn early 2025 Helen McCookerybook launched her album ‘Showtunes from the Shadows’ with a sold-out gig at The Betsey Trotwood attended by the Radio 6 DJ Gideon Coe\, and a host of other luminaries from far and wide. \nHer songs at that gig were augmented by artists who had guested on the album: Robert Rotifer on guitar and vocals\, Terry Edwards on Trumpet\, and Jack Hayter on lap steel guitar. The addition of Ruth Tidmarsh (bass and vocals) and Karina Townsend (melodica and vocals) filled out the songs and added a whole layer of vocal harmonies that couldn’t be reproduced at Helen’s solo gigs. It was a unique event\, and this gig will be another unusual one-off. \nLester Square (ex Monochrome Set/Adam & the Ants) will be joining the same line-up to play guitar\, and there will be a mystery guest to be announced later. More songs from the album will be added to the set\, and some of Helen’s older songs will be re-vamped with the chance for audience participation (mp3s of the parts will be sent out to ticket holders so you can sing along). \nAs another special feature\, support will be from the guest artists: expect musical saw\, poignant and funny songs debuted specially for the night\, trumpet shenanigans\, and who knows what else.\nThere will be vinyl albums and more for sale (please bring cash- it’s easier). \nCome along\, join the throng… and sing along.
