DESCRIPTION:Double Bill: ExTC + The Monochrome Set \nAGMP present two of the undisputed legends of original British pop music on one outstanding double bill. \nFor almost four decades\, XTC fans could only dream of witnessing the sensational XTC classic songbook played live. That dream has now become a reality. XTC’s legendary drummer\, Terry Chambers\, is back on the road with his band EXTC (named and approved by XTC frontman\, Andy Partridge). Emerging out of the post-punk and new-wave explosion of the late 70s\, XTC experienced global success touring with the likes of The Police and Talking Heads. \nThe Monochrome Set are loved by artists such as The Smiths\, Franz Ferdinand and Blur and covered by such diverse acts as Iggy Pop and Tracey Thorn\, and the band still features original Monochrome Set members Bid (guitar/vocals) and Andy Warren (bass) with Foz (guitar) Dave Morgan (drums) and Athen Ayren (keyboard). \nThe Monochrome Set formed in 1978\, and were heavily influential in the post-punk scene that evolved after the initial scorched earth of punk. The band’s early releases were on the legendary Rough Trade Label before signing with Virgin offshoot Din Disc. They also released several albums on the Cherry Red label\, making a notable appearance on that labels’ well known “Pillows and Prayers” compilation. \nThis is a standing gig.

The band feature original Monochrome Set members Bid (guitar/vocals) and Andy Warren (bass) with Athen Ayren on keyboards and Stephen Gilchrist on drums. \nThe Monochrome Set formed in 1978\, and were heavily influential in the post-punk scene that evolved after the initial scorched earth of punk. The band’s early releases were on the legendary Rough Trade Label before signing with Virgin offshoot Din Disc. They also released several albums on the Cherry Red label\, making a notable appearance on that labels’ well known “Pillows and Prayers” compilation. \nThough The Monochrome Set split in 1985 the next decade saw several reunions for both live gigs and further studio recordings. After a hiatus of over a decade the band reformed full time in 2010 and have since toured all over the UK\, Europe\, Japan and the USA\, whilst also releasing eight\, new\, critically acclaimed\, studio albums. \nNow in their 48th year\, they are beginning a new series of gigs promoting their new album and playing songs from throughout that time. \nCANDYMOUSE\nEver wondered what the love child of 80’s indie also-rans Mousefolk and the Candy Darlings would sound like?
