Its provocative\, frenzied roots were in the New York underground\, before it emerged triumphant\, kicking and screaming at the top of the British pop charts\, inspiring and appalling people in equal measure. \nJust over fifty years ago\, on November 6\, 1975\, the Sex Pistols gave their first\, appropriately chaotic\, performance at Saint Martin’s College of Art and within a few months the spirit and attitude of Punk had been let loose. \nAt this special event Chris Sullivan and Stephen Colegrave talk to writer and broadcaster Miranda Sawyer about their new book Punk: the Last Word\, a bold\, unflinching chronicle of Punk not just as a mere music genre or fashion statement\, but as a free-thinking\, egalitarian\, DIY attitude that continues to challenge norms and empower individuals to live authentically.
